Dear parent of Northface Student Ministry Student,

Hello, from Summit. I wanted to welcome you to student ministry at Summit Community Church. I hope your Northfacer is having a great time here. Just in case you don’t know, NORTHFACE is what we call our Ministry to students in grades 6^th-12^th. We meet at 9 am on Sundays at Christian High School above the gym, and 7pm-9pm on Wednesdays in the same place. Sunday mornings are a great time for students to hang out with friends and our adult leaders for the first 30 minutes while playing video games, watching music videos, or just leaning up against a locker and catching up with those around them. At around 9:40am we split up into bible study groups for the remainder of the time together. Groups are made up of students of the same age and gender. We currently have several adults teaching and hanging out with our Student Ministry but are in real need of more adults to come in and serve (a little plug for those of you who are interested or know someone who is, to come in and serve students). After bible study groups we encourage students to attend the second service. This is a great time for them to connect with our church body. They will participate in corporate Worship and teaching with you as parents and their peers. This is an important time as a family to worship together and connect to a very real God and also makes it a little easier to discuss what they are hearing and learning along with you in our services. Northface meets together on Wednesday nights at 7pm as well. We give them more time to connect with other students and adults. Students hang out and play Frisbee, football, video games, etc. before we come together as a group and Worship corporately and have a bible study. We also split up into small groups for discussion and prayer. We are usually finished by 8:45pm.

We desire to walk with students to help them know the Glory of Jesus, and to see them make His Glory known. This is a huge task and we are learning together all the time. One of the ways we get to do this is to get together throughout the year in larger events like Summer Camp and retreats to get them out of their everyday routine and give them a chance to concentrate on getting to know Christ more…you know teach a man to fish and he will eat forever, right? One of those retreats is coming up November 21-23 and we want to invite students to come and spend time with us that weekend. It will begin at 6:30pm at the Granicke’s House 302 N Quail Point Dr O Fallon, MO 63366. We meet for our first session there, then split into smaller groups at homes of several members of our church. We meet Saturday together for a community project then go hang out at Quail Ridge Park before heading back to the homes for more sessions that night. We end at church on Sunday. It’s a packed weekend that is capped off with our Thanksgiving dinner and baptism at the RecPlex in St. Peters Sunday night at 6:30. The Retreat costs $30 per person or $50 per family. You can sign up at church on Sundays or Wednesday Make checks payable to Summit Community Church. We will be discussing Issues that face teens today throughout the weekend. What does it take to be a man?
