The Gospel Is ...

Doctor: I have some good news and some bad news.
Patient: What's the good news?
Doctor: The good news is they are naming a disease after you!

Matthew 4:23 He went ... teaching ... the gospel of the kingdom
Gospel literally means -

(Mark 1:14; I Corin. 15:1-6)

* To Jews - THE GOSPEL IS ... God's kingdom is accomplished in JESUS - His life, death, and being raised on the 3rd day.

Romans 1:1-6 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus ... set apart for the gospel.

* To Gentiles - THE GOSPEL IS ... God's eternal plan for mankind is accomplished in Jesus - His life, death, and being raised on the 3rd day.

(II Tim. 1:8-10; I Corin. 15:1-4)

The Gospel ...
I. Through the gospel God gives you peace with Him.
1) Salvation - forgiveness of sin through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ (justification) [Romans 1:16, 5:1; Eph. 6:15]
2) Transformation - The gospel is the power of God that continues to draw us know Him and daily be change into the image of Christ. (sanctification) [Col. 1:21-23; Eph. 1:17-21]
3) Eternal Life - We will be presented holy and blameless by Christ at judgment and ushered into eternal fellowship with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. (glorification) [II Tim.1:10; Jude 1:24; Col. 1:22]

II. Through the gospel God includes us in His eternal plan for mankind.
1) Peace within the body of Christ. [Eph. 2:12-19]
2) A mission for the body. [Matt. 24:14]

* The gospel must be spoken - shared with those who don't know forgiveness in Christ and continually taught and studied by followers.
* The gospel must be lived - with followers and those who are not. [feeding the poor, loving without conditions, clothing the naked, living the truth without pretense, forgiving, caring for the widow and orphan, praying for the sick, visiting those in jail,]
