About Us
We believe we are a part of the greatest movement ever known to mankind. It is not about power, money, or prestige. It is about being a small part of God's great purpose and plan on this earth. (If you want to know more about a relationship with God through Jesus Christ - click here.)
Jesus said, ...
“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30 ESV
“The glory that you have given me, I have given to them …” John 17:22 ESV
* As we passionately follow Him, we are called to make known the greatness of Christ
in and through our life.
?God’s plan is to make known his secret to his people, this rich and glorious secret which he has for all peoples. And the secret is that Christ is in you, which means that you will share in the glory of God. Colossians 1:27 GNT
Therefore, as you go, make disciples of all the nations.. . Matthew 28:20 ISV
* As the church of the Living God, “the called out ones”, we exist as the bride of Christ for the same purpose.
A disciple is a follower. In Jesus' day, the disciple was called to a teacher to learn and then become a teacher of others. Jesus called us to be his followers or His disciples. Jesus' last commands as He left the earth was not to reach many, grow many, or love many. It was to make disciples. That is - we are to share the good news of forgiveness and life change in Christ and, as people surrender to Christ, they are to be grown in the likeness of Christ so they can pour out Christ into others. The fullness of making disciples requires pouring out the glory of Christ into others and teaching those to pour out Christ into others. Jesus left us a model for how this is to be accomplished. The diagram below helps explain this.

First, our ultimate end is to glorify God in all we are and do. This begins here on earth as we come into relationship with God through the work of Jesus Christ. We must be reached with the good news of forgiveness and life in Christ. As this relationship begins, we must come into authentic relatioinship with other followers. This community will allow the next two aspects of being a disciple to happen - worship and teaching. We cannot grow in our relationship with Christ without being taught. However, in order to become a disciple maker, we must learn this up close in context with other believers. We learn to worship as we are taught and experience worship amongst other followers. Next, we must have the life of Christ modeled in order to learn how to pour His glory out into others. This is done as we are equipped, encouraged, and hands-on trained by others. Eventually, we must be sent - prayed for and commissioned to pour out Christ into others. We use this model in all we do so that each person knows the ultimate end here on earth is to bring glory to God by pouring His glory into others. This is not a formula or an equation. It is a process that involves prayer and the Spirit of God working in and through our lives.
We realize that church can get so busy that we never get to live the life God has called us to around our family, neighbors, and co-workers. At The Summit, we want to keep things simple so we can focus on the mission. Below are the three practical things which allow us to live out the life God has called us to.
- We begin living out our vision, our mission in small groups we call BASE Camps. It is here that we facilitate life together, reaching, teaching, modeling and sending. This is the core and lifeblood of our church. Two hours a week does not constitute real life. However, it is a place to begin the mission that God has called us to.
- We have various Ministry Teams that unite people on mission. It is here that we facilitate making disciple makers to various age groups, people groups, and interest groups.
- We meet corporately to worship in several settings: Sunday Worship - every Sunday morning, ROCC Rally - once a month on the last Wednesday, Nights of Worship - the last Sunday in a five Sunday month, and other special occasions like Baptisms and conferences. It is here that we unite in glorifying God with our lives, our mouths, our hearts, and our minds.
